Privacy Policy
The short version: BlueKit scans for Bluetooth devices directly on your iPhone. The devices it finds, their signal readings and your favorites stay on your device and are never uploaded to us. To keep the app running and improving, BlueKit uses a small number of trusted services for app analytics, crash reports, remote settings and purchases. This policy explains exactly what they receive.
What stays on your device
- Bluetooth scans. BlueKit uses Bluetooth to detect nearby devices and read their signal strength. The names, identifiers and signal readings of the devices it finds are processed on your iPhone only and are not sent to us or to anyone else.
- Favorites. Devices you mark as favorites are saved on your iPhone only.
- Location. If you open the map view, BlueKit asks for access to your location and uses it on your iPhone to center the map where you are. We don't store or receive your location. The map itself is provided by Apple Maps, under Apple's privacy policy.
No accounts
BlueKit does not require or offer an account. We never ask for your name, email address or phone number inside the app.
App analytics, crash reports and settings (Google Firebase)
BlueKit uses Google Firebase services:
- Google Analytics for Firebase collects standard usage information, such as app opens, session length, screens viewed and in-app purchases (product, price and currency). It does not receive the devices you scan or your location.
- Firebase Crashlytics receives a crash report if the app crashes, with technical details such as the stack trace, device model and operating system version.
- Firebase Remote Config lets us adjust some app settings without an update.
- Firebase Anonymous Authentication creates a random identifier for your app installation. It is not linked to your name, email or Apple Account.
Along with this, Firebase receives device and app information (device model, operating system, app version, language) and an approximate location (country or region) derived from your IP address, together with random app instance and installation identifiers. Google processes this data under the Google Privacy Policy.
Purchases (Apple and RevenueCat)
All payments are processed by Apple; we never see your payment details. To unlock and restore BlueKit Premium, BlueKit uses RevenueCat, a purchase-management service. RevenueCat receives an anonymous, randomly generated user identifier, your App Store purchase and transaction information, and basic device and app information. If you installed BlueKit from an Apple Search Ads ad, RevenueCat also receives an attribution token from Apple's AdServices framework, which does not identify you personally and doesn't require tracking permission. RevenueCat never receives your name, email address or Apple Account. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
No tracking, no ads
BlueKit doesn't show ads and doesn't ask for permission to track you across other companies' apps and websites (App Tracking Transparency), so it does not use your device's advertising identifier. We never sell your personal information.
Emails you send us
If you contact us from the app or by email, we receive the name, email address and message you choose to send, and use them only to answer you.
Your choices and rights
- You can turn off Bluetooth or location access for BlueKit at any time in iOS Settings.
- Deleting the app removes your favorites and everything else BlueKit stores on your iPhone.
- Depending on where you live (for example in the EU, UK or California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of your personal data. Email us at the address below and we'll help.
Children
BlueKit is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will post the update on this page with a new date.
